Media practitioners meet to dialogue on Media Sustainability
Kigali-on Wednesday 16 October 2024, the Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Governance Board Dr. Doris Uwicyeza Picard attended the Media sustainability Dialogue aims at discussing the strategies to enhance the development of Media Sector in Rwanda which was organised by Rwanda Journalists Association, Fojo Media Institute and WAN-IFRA Women in News.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Doris appreciated the dialogue organizers, and she said it is an opportunity for media practitioners to discuss the challenges and find the sustainable solutions to address them.
She also noted that among the challenges which need to be discussed in this dialogue include working conditions for media practitioners which sometimes affects professional practices, the financial sustainability and gender inclusiveness as women are less represented in media sector especially in decision making positions.
During this dialogue, the participants were given different presentations include the key findings of Media Financial Sustainability assessment which was conducted by RGB last year delivered by Jean Bosco Rushingabigwi, the Head of Media Sector Coordination & Monitoring Department and presentation on key outcomes from peer learning tour on financial sustainability by media owners and managers delivered by Emmanuel Habumuremyi.
