Meet Exemplary Service Delivery Expectations - Prof. Shyaka Tells RGB Managers

Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) should lead by example with high standards and set the bar higher as a regulatory board on upholding service delivery and good governance principles.

The remarks were made by RGB Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Prof. Anastase Shyaka during a two-day retreat held for RGB senior and middle managers.

The retreat, held on 19-20 December 2016 at Golden Tulip Hotel in Bugesera District, was organised to refocus institutional plans and existing organizational structure in light of RGB’s revised mandate and national needs in service delivery.

Prof. Shyaka reflected on President Paul Kagame’s speech during the recent Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) politburo and the National Umushyikirano Council, which among other things emphasized on the need for leaders to enhance quality service and serve citizens and the country.

These values, Prof. Shyaka noted, should set the pace for how business should run at RGB and particularly urged the staff to be citizen-centred and exhibit team work and sense of urgency.

RGB deputy CEO, Ambassador Fatuma Ndangiza, speaking earlier while officially opening the retreat on behalf of the CEO, said there is need for change of mindset and innovative ways help the board deliver effectively.

The retreat discussed the new RGB structure, reviewed the Plan of Action and took stock of how Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be integrated in RGB work.

Besides, it provided an opportunity for team building and it was recommended that such a forum be held more often as a way of bringing about excellent rapport between senior managers and other RGB staff.

It ended on a high note and participants committed to improve team work and excellence.
