Parliament receives the RGB annual report of year 2022-2023 and action plan of 2023-2024
On this Wednesday 1st November 2023, the Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) Dr. Kaitesi Usta presented the RGB annual report of the physical year 2022-2023 and action plan of 2023-2024 before the Plenary Sitting of both Chambers.
In her presentation, Dr. Kaitesi told the Parliamentarians that aactivities conducted by RGB in year 2022-2023 are divided into six categories, including research on governance and Home-grown solution , monitoring service delivery, promoting good governance and Joint Action Development Forum (JADF), registering and monitoring civil society organisations, faith based organisations and foundations, capacity building of media sector, and performing other activities related to the general secretariats
Among the research conducted by RGB in this physical year includes Rwanda Governance Scorecard 10th edition (RGS), Citizen Report Card (CRC), Assessment of Coordination and collaboration among institutions, Rwanda Civil Society Barometer (RCSB) and Assessment of the financial sustainability of media houses and media associations.
In the fiscal year 2022-2023, RGB had planned 52 activities, among them 50 have been completed and the two left will be done by this physical year of 2022-2023.
On the campaign on service delivery, RGB organised different talk shows through "Nk'uwikirora" campaign which focused on improving the knowledge of service providers and recipients, where they were educated the role of good service delivery in the development of the country. This campaign was carried out by using educative messages through online media, radio and television (KT Radio, Rwanda Television, and Igihe.com).
In this year, RGB in partnership with the Ministry of Local Government, the Ministry of Sports, the Provinces and the City of Kigali, Districts and Sectors organised a competition of good governance known as ’Umurenge Kagame Cup”. The competition was attended by men's and women's teams in the different disciplines including football, sit-ball, volleyball, basketball, cycling, high jump and Kubuguza.
After receiving the report, members of the Parliament both Chambers appreciated the work done by RGB which will help them to do oversight on government activities. However, the Speaker of Chamber of Deputies Right Hon. MUKABALISA Donatille who presided over the Joint Plenary Session said that this report will be sent to the relevant standing committees in both chambers respectively for more analysis.
