Rwanda Governance Board receives a delegation from Senegal

Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) on 29th November 2017, received a delegation from Senegal which was on a study tour to Rwanda to learn on results-based management and the system of monitoring and evaluation of priority public policies.

The delegation comprised of 11 officials came from the Bureau of Organizational Methods, attached to General Secretariat of the Office of the President of Senegal.

At RGB, they were received by a team of senior managers led by Dr. Félicien Usengumukiza, the Head of Research Department, who took them through the institution’s core mandate and duties. Dr. Usengumukiza told the Senegalese delegation that RGB was established to be a one stop center and governance think tank among other duties.

Describing Rwanda’s achievements, Dr Félicien explained to the delegation that there are many factors including visionary leadership, strong institutions and citizens’ commitment which enabled the country resurgence in the wake of the 1994 Genocide committed against the Tutsi.

“Rwanda reached where we are today because of citizens’ resilience and accountable governance. This has been key in Rwanda’s socio-economic transformation but above all, Rwanda’s owes its remarkable change to the visionary leadership of President Paul Kagame, “Dr Usengumukiza added.

After the presentation, the delegation got an opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas with RGB officials. Their questions were centered on the mechanisms used by Rwanda in the implementation of various policies such as the performance contracts and its role in enhancing accountable governance and the management of public funds to name few.

After getting a clear picture of RGB mandate and the country’s transformation at large, the Senegalese delegation commended Rwanda’s key achievements and citizens’ participation in the country’s transformational journey.

Specifically, they lauded Rwanda’s leadership, citizen-centered governance, home grown solutions and their role in the country’s economic evolution.
