South Sudanese delegation visits RGB

On this Wednesday 13, March 2024, members of delegation from the Republic of South Sudan visited RGB to benchmark on Good Governance and Service Delivery; strategies and programs for establishing media self-regulation; creating a professional, responsible, plural and economically viable Media sector, among others.

The delegation was received by RUSHINGABIGWI J. Bosco, Head of Department of the Media Sector Coordination Monitoring Department together with AFRIKA Alexis, Acting Head of Service Delivery, Good governance and JADF Department.

In their presentation, both heads of department showed how the country rebuilt after the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi through Unit, accountability and thinking big. They also explained how RGB conducts research on governance principals and service delivery in order to inform public and private sector as well as decision makers the areas to be strengthened.  

Regarding to media development and professionalism, Mr.RUSHINGABIGWI indicated how Government of Rwanda put in place law regulating media in Rwanda and how journalists initiated the media self-regulation body which help media practitioners in Rwanda to work in a conducive environment.

He also showed some challenges that are still hampering media professionalism especially the use of YouTube and other social media platforms which do not have regulations yet.
