Synergy of Local and International NGOS to boost national development

Prof. Shyaka Anastase, the Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) has hailed the recent transfer of International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs) from the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration to Rwanda Governance Board. He made the remarks while addressing representatives of INGOs, during a meeting aimed at networking and enhancing partnership through the new operational framework, held in Kigali on Monday 25 September 2017. In addition to registering, granting legal personality to local non-governmental organisations and faith-based organisations, under the new mandate, as per the Law N°56/2016 of 16/12/2016, RGB will register International non-governmental organisations and monitor their operations.  “The transfer of INGOs to RGB is an innovative reform undertaken by our government with the intention to improve service delivery and efficiency. We are sure that the synergy of INGOs local NGOs will bring a more significant impact to the citizens’ welfare and national development”, noted Prof. Shyaka. He emphasized that “The new move will also enhance accountability, transparency and coordination of all interventions made by both INGOs and local NGOs”. Representatives of INGOs appreciated the reform and reaffirmed their continued commitment to deliver to the national priorities through the new operational framework. “We have been given quality services by the Immigration Office and we expect the same with RGB. We acknowledge that Rwanda has been a fast-growing economy country and we shall keep our commitment to contribute to national development”, stated Papa Diouf, Chairperson of Network of International NGOs in Rwanda (NINGO). RGB also promised a good collaboration with NINGOs, and reassured that the current transitional period will not affect the operations in any way.
