The Governance we want program launched in the Western Province
The Acting Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Governance Board RGB has urged Faith Based Organizations to up their role in the implementation of social protection programs in order to speed up poverty alleviation and national development.
Dr. Usta Kaitesi made the call on 8th February, 2019 during the launch of the “Governance we want Program” in the Western Province of Rwanda in a ceremony that was held in Rusumo cell, Gatumba sector of Ngororero district. In the Western Province a particular emphasis was placed on the role of non state actors mainly Faith Based Organizations in the implementation of social protection programs.
“If faith based organizations increased their role in the fight against poverty, malnutrition, diseases and poor hygiene we would see rapid development and poverty decline” The Acting Chief Executive Officer of RGB told religious leaders attending the ceremony at Muhororo ground.
“This is part of you vocation to lead your followers to God” Dr. Kaitesi added.
Commenting on the theme of the “Governance we want program” the acting CEO of Rwanda Governance Board said that “Citizen centered governance” has been designed to make a call for everyone to deliver towards changing people’s lives.
“The theme tasks even the citizens to participate in activities meant for their development either in governance and service delivery”
On his part, the Governor of the Western Province, Mr. Alphonse Munyantwari thanked Rwanda Governance Board for having introduced the “Governance we want program” which is going to “contribute to the country’s transformative governance”.
He also urged Faith Based Organizations to work together if they are to keep making a significant impact in people’s lives.
The Western Province marked the completion of the tour to launch the program in all Provinces and the City of Kigali. The “Governance we want program’ was launched by Rwanda Governance Board to promote good governance principles and practices. The program targets 32 sectors from 17 districts.
